Electrical, control and telecoms packages for oil and gas
We supply, install, test and commission the systems that power and protect wells, degassing stations and pipelines. Every package is delivered to the operator's own specifications and procedures.
Electrical and power distribution
From the 33 kV overhead line to the motor terminal box at the well, we deliver complete power distribution packages on operating oil fields. Our crews have installed mobile and package substations at short notice when operators needed new wells on line before permanent substations were ready.
We handle the whole chain: equipment selection with the client's engineers, procurement through our UK office or regional manufacturers, foundations and cable routes, installation, testing and energisation under the operator's permit-to-work system.

Scope
- 33/11 kV fixed and mobile substations
- Package and kiosk substations for well sites
- MV and LV switchgear and motor control centres
- UPS and DC charger systems
- Power, control and earthing cables
- Emergency generator supply and interconnection
- Overhead line rerouting and refurbishment
Delivered examples
- Two 25 MVA mobile substations, Zubair (2015)
- Skid-mounted well substations, Zubair (2015)
- 11 kV outdoor switchgear for three stations (2015)
- Emergency generators, Hammar and Zubair Mishrif (2014)
What you receive
- Single-line diagrams and cable schedules reviewed against site conditions
- Equipment procured with factory test records
- Insulation resistance, continuity, ratio and functional test sheets
- As-built drawings and a complete handover dossier
Instrumentation and control
Fire and gas detection protects people and plant at degassing stations, where a missed alarm has serious consequences. We install detection systems, PLC panels and field instruments, then loop-check every signal from the device to the control room.
Our instrument technicians work to the operator's cause-and-effect charts and inspection and test plans, and stay through commissioning until each loop is signed off.

Scope
- Fire and gas detection and PLC systems
- Gas detectors and linear heat detection
- Flow metering and meter installation
- PLC and SCADA for generators and the grid
- Instrument UPS power supplies
- Loop checks, calibration and commissioning
Delivered examples
- Fire and gas system, Zubair station (2014)
- Fire and gas PLC, Rafidiya and Safwan stations
- Krohne meter installation (2012)
- Generator connection PLC (2014)
What you receive
- Detector and field device installation
- Instrument cable, trays and junction boxes
- Loop checks and calibration records
- Support to the client during SAT and commissioning
Telecoms and fibre networks
Modern fields depend on data: SCADA, CCTV, radio and business networks all run over fibre between stations, data centres and control rooms. We supply and install the fibre backbone and the structured cabling inside each building.
Every link is spliced, terminated and tested with an OTDR before handover, so the client receives measured loss figures for each fibre, not just a working connection.

Scope
- Fibre optic cable supply and installation
- Splicing, termination and OTDR testing
- Structured cabling and racks
- Radio tower and wireless links
Delivered examples
- Fibre from Data Centre 2 to LSC (2014)
- Fibre to the new technical building (2014)
- Fibre material for all stations to the radio tower
What you receive
- Fibre route survey and duct or direct-buried installation
- Fusion splicing and termination in racks and ODFs
- OTDR and power-meter test reports per fibre
- Labelled racks and as-built route drawings
Cathodic protection
Buried pipelines, well casings and tanks in southern Iraq sit in saline, high-chloride soil that corrodes unprotected steel quickly. Cathodic protection stops that corrosion electrically, and it is a requirement on every new pipeline and facility.
We supply complete impressed-current and galvanic systems built by UK and European manufacturers through our UK office, then install and commission them with our own Basra crews.

Scope
- Transformer-rectifiers and junction boxes
- Anode groundbeds: MMO, magnesium, zinc
- Test stations, bonds and insulating joints
- Commissioning and potential surveys
What you receive
- Transformer-rectifiers, anodes, junction boxes and test stations
- Groundbed installation and cable connections
- On and instant-off potential surveys
- Commissioning report against the protection criterion
Civil and site works
Electrical packages depend on civil works that are done right first time: foundations level and at the right height, cable trenches at the right depth, and road crossings sleeved and backfilled to specification.
We carry out this work with our own plant fleet and civil crews, so the electrical team never waits on a third party.

Scope
- Cable trenches and road crossings
- Equipment foundations and steel structures
- Area, street and solar lighting
- Power supply to prefabricated buildings
Delivered examples
- Solar lighting for evaporation ponds (2013)
- EPC electrical network, Khor Al-Zubair
- Lighting for Basra border checkpoints
What you receive
- Equipment plinths and foundations
- Cable trenches, ducts and road crossings
- Steel structures and cable supports
- Area, street and solar lighting
Equipment procurement
Operators and EPC contractors often need equipment fast, with full documentation and a supplier who answers in their time zone. Through Larsa International, our UK office in Manchester, we source from British and European manufacturers and manage delivery to site.
We handle technical clarification, factory inspection, export documents, Iraqi conformity certificates, freight and customs clearance, so the client receives one delivery with one set of papers.

Scope
- Manufacturer selection and technical clarification
- Factory inspection and test witnessing
- Shipping, customs clearance and delivery
- Document packages: certificates, test records, manuals
Manufacturers we have procured from
- Emirates Transformer & Switchgear
- Lucy Electric
- Krohne
- Linxcom
What you receive
- Manufacturer selection and technical comparison
- Factory acceptance tests witnessed in the UK or Europe
- Certificate of origin and Iraqi certificate of conformity
- Freight to Umm Qasr and customs clearance
